The Bronx, and the property we work on
We are based on 639 E 234th Street, in the north of the borough. A great deal of the stock around us is detached, semi-detached and small multi-family: two and three-storey houses with a short driveway, a side passage, a detached garage and a private rear yard.
That shapes the work more than anything else does. Material can usually leave through a private frontage rather than a shared corridor. A container can often stand on the property instead of on the street. And driveways, patios, garage floors, steps, sheds and rear extensions are ordinary jobs here in a way they are not in a borough of lift-served buildings.
It also means the awkward part is rarely the lift. It is the side passage, the gate width and whether a machine can reach the back.
Across the borough
The north Bronx
Wakefield, Edenwald, Eastchester, Baychester, Williamsbridge, Woodlawn and Olinville. This is Community District 12 and it is where we are based, so travel is shortest here.
The east Bronx
Throgs Neck, Country Club, Pelham Bay, Morris Park and Pelham Parkway. Comparable detached and semi-detached stock on the peninsula and its approaches.
The west and south Bronx
Riverdale, Kingsbridge, Fordham, Norwood, Bedford Park, Mott Haven, Hunts Point, Soundview and Castle Hill. A wider range, from detached Riverdale to dense southern multi-family, and the access question changes accordingly.
What we take on, wherever it is
The same four services across the borough. Which one you need depends on what is coming out, not on where the property is.
Interior demolition
Everything non-structural out of a space that stays standing. Kitchens, bathrooms, partitions, flooring and ceilings, in houses, apartments and storefronts.
Building demolition
Whole structures and agreed parts of them. On this stock that is usually a garage, a shed, a rear extension or an outbuilding.
Concrete removal
Driveways, patios, walkways, steps, garage floors and yard slabs broken out and carried away, with the ground left graded.
Construction debris removal
Getting the material off the property and to a facility registered to take it, whether we generated it or found it already there.

On this stock the access question decides more than the demolition does. These are the things worth telling us on the first call.
- The side passage
Width, and what is in it
Most rear yards here are reached down a passage between two houses. Its width, and whether there are steps, a gate post or a meter box part way along, decides whether a machine reaches the back or whether we break by hand and carry out. Both are normal. They are different jobs.
- The frontage
Where a container can stand
A private driveway or forecourt usually means a container stands on the property, which keeps the material off the street and the job simpler. Where there is no frontage the arrangements are different and are settled before a date is agreed.
- The route out
How far the material travels
From where it is generated to where the truck can sit. A ground floor beside a driveway is a short carry. A third floor walk-up with the truck at the kerb is a long one, and it is the part that moves the labour rather than the demolition.

And what it shares
Attached and semi-detached houses share a wall, and often a fence, a path or a drain run. Anything staying gets identified before work starts rather than discovered during it.

Yes, anywhere in the borough. Being based on East 234th Street keeps travel short in the north Bronx in particular, which matters on jobs that run several days and need the truck back and forth.
Can you get equipment to a rear yard?
Usually, and the side passage is what decides it. Tell us the gate width and whether there are steps on the way through. Where a machine cannot reach we break by hand and carry out, which changes the time rather than the possibility.
